Butchering Moose

We got a call the day after an unsuccessful moose hunting season. The call was from the coordinator for our "road kill" moose harvesting team. DNR had confiscated an illegal moose from a hunter and we could have it!! So much better than trying to salvage meat from a moose that tangled with a tractor trailer. Clean meat. Thank you Lord!! Here are some pictures of what it looks like when we cut up a moose.

Goats

We are going to be attempting to raise a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats this year and Ryan and his dad have been working on building the enclosure for them. We are recycling an old chicken barn that was here in the yarn. We moved it to a flatter area and built an enclosed area for the goats. Here are some pictures of the progress. And one more picture of our beautiful fall colors before its all replaced by snow.

Autumn beauty

A chill is in the air, the snow is creeping it's way down the mountains and thoughts are turning to moose hunting and cutting firewood....it must be autumn. I will be blogging about the beautiful log cabin we moved into here in Hidden Cove soon but today I just want to share some pictures of the beauty God has blessed us to be surrounded by here in Alaska.
