Mom and I headed into Anchorage yesterday for a fun day of shopping and hanging out before she headed back to Wisconsin this morning. We visited many consignment shops and little hole in the wall boutiques and had lunch at a lovely little cafe called Crush. I had the most wonderful grilled vegetable and chèvre sandwich and we shared a creamy creme brûlée for dessert. It was great to spend some time together doing what we both love to do... Shop!! I'm sure going to miss her!

Nana's visit
A couple if weeks ago I was talking to my mom on the phone telling her about my elaborate childcare plan for during my two week EMS internship. I was working 12-15 hr shifts throughout two weeks one of which Ryan was planning to be on a missions trip in the Brooks Range and wouldn't be around. My mom said "Well you haven't asked me to come help". So I did and she is here. She has been a huge help with the kids and the house and literally keeping the home fires burning. The past few days she's been baking up a storm much to my family's delight and much to the chagrin of my waistline. Here are some pics of her baking delights. She also helped me with mending and sewing some cute aprons for my little cooks.

Trip Up to the Brooks Range
On Monday Ryan and a few other men are heading up to the Brooks Range to take supplies for camp this summer. Kingdom Air Corps runs bible camps up north of the Arctic Circle every summer and flies in children from Native Villages that are not accessible by road during the summer. Winter is the only way to bring supplies in and so this is a yearly undertaking for Glacierview Church. Ryan will be driving VBC's semi loaded with supplies and snowmachines up to Bettles, AK part of which requires driving on a winter road. This means partially ice road. Scary to me, exciting for him. Once they reach Bettles they will be taking snowmachines loaded down with freightsleds full of building supplies and other items 45 mi one direction across the back country out to the Brooks Range. They will be going back and forth multiple times every day and then sleeping in converted trailers at night. This trip is anticipated to last approximately one week barring any major setbacks. Please pray for the guys as they undertake this mission. Here is a picture of some of the food I am working on putting together for Ryan to take along. They will be heating food up in a hotdogger (a canister that hooks onto the exhaust of the snowmachine while they drive).

Mt. Man Rendezvous
Last Tuesday Ryan and Jeremiah headed out to Dan Creek in the back country to camp out overnight in the wilderness. Armed with sleeping bags and warm clothes and coffee grounds they headed off into the setting sun. It sounds like a good time was had by both of them. Here are a couple of pictures.
